8.2MB)<\/p><p class=\"powerpress_links powerpress_subscribe_links\">Subscribe: <a href=\"https:\/\/daily.ktqa.org\/feed\/podcast\/\" class=\"powerpress_link_subscribe powerpress_link_subscribe_rss\" title=\"Subscribe via RSS\" rel=\"nofollow\">RSS<\/a><\/p><h1 id=\"state\">STATE<\/h1>\n<div class=\"level1\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level1 node\">\n<div class=\"li\"><a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/kuow.org\/stories\/pandemic-updates-for-seattle-and-the-northwest\" href=\"https:\/\/kuow.org\/stories\/pandemic-updates-for-seattle-and-the-northwest\" rel=\"nofollow\">Reports are surfacing<\/a> about a draft for updated recommendations by health officials for when schools and districts could consider resuming full-time or hybrid in-person learning on school campuses.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">Any <a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thenewstribune.com\/news\/local\/article247411275.html\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewstribune.com\/news\/local\/article247411275.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">new recommendations<\/a> have not been adopted by the governor, nor published by the health department for statewide adoption.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">At this time, the Washington State Department of Health continues to advise school districts to stick with remote learning if counties have had more than 75 coronavirus cases per every 100,000 people over two weeks.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1 node\">\n<div class=\"li\">The state health department confirmed a new record of 3,482 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">The previous high count for new daily cases was 2,600 set on November 17th.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1 node\">\n<div class=\"li\">The state Health Department of Health <a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thenewstribune.com\/news\/coronavirus\/article247423515.html#storylink=cpy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewstribune.com\/news\/coronavirus\/article247423515.html#storylink=cpy\" rel=\"nofollow\">issued an alert<\/a> regarding the rising rate of hospital occupancy due to COVID-19<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">In response, the online state risk assessment dashboard will show hospital ICU bed occupancy, increased 75% since the first of the month, and what percentage of those beds are taken by COVID-19 patients<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">The dashboard will also show the number and percent of occupied adult hospital beds; the number and percent of all beds occupied by COVID-19 patients.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">The report warns that hospital systems statewide may be forced to delay non-urgent cases, and that patients of all kinds could face delays in treatment.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1 node\">\n<div class=\"li\">On Tuesday, <a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/komonews.com\/news\/coronavirus\/catastrophic-loss-of-medical-care-possible-if-washingtons-covid-19-numbers-skyrocket\" href=\"https:\/\/komonews.com\/news\/coronavirus\/catastrophic-loss-of-medical-care-possible-if-washingtons-covid-19-numbers-skyrocket\" rel=\"nofollow\">the Governor said<\/a> his latest restrictions could be extended beyond Dec 14th for weeks if the current trajectory doesn&#8217;t change.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">If the current infection and hospitalization patterns continue, there could be close to 2000 people hospitalized for COVID-19 within a month.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">Nearly all elected officials, healthcare workers, and health department officials, including the CDC, urge everyone to celebrate Thanksgiving only with members of one&#8217;s household, and not to travel.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h1 id=\"regional\">REGIONAL<\/h1>\n<div class=\"level1\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level1 node\">\n<div class=\"li\">The Tacoma Pierce County Health Department reported 284 new COVID 19 cases today.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">The County&#8217;s 14-day case rate per 100,000 people has increased from 322 at the end of last week to 384 today.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">For reference, the figure is recommended to be at 75 per 100,000 to consider bringing back youngest students for hybrid in-person learning at schools.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">The department notes that as more people are seeking testing at Pierce County\u2019s mobile sites, there have been delays in processing and reporting<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">Today&#8217;s figures include catch-up numbers from up to 3 days ago, and is likely an undercount.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h1 id=\"tacoma\">TACOMA<\/h1>\n<div class=\"level1\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level1\">\n<div class=\"li\">The <a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/cityoftacoma.org\/in_the_news\/thanksgiving_observed_november_26_and_27\" href=\"https:\/\/cityoftacoma.org\/in_the_news\/thanksgiving_observed_november_26_and_27\" rel=\"nofollow\">City of Tacoma<\/a>&#8216;s Administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1 node\">\n<div class=\"li\">The Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center (3510 S. Mullen St.) will close on Thursday, and garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be collected on Thursday, November 26th.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">Customers whose garbage, recycling and yard waste are normally picked up on Thursdays or Fridays can expect pick-up one day later this week.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h1 id=\"testing_sites\">TESTING SITES<\/h1>\n<div class=\"level1\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level1 node\">\n<div class=\"li\">There are numerous free COVID-19 testing sites in our region:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">For King County locations visit <a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kingcounty.gov\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kingcounty.gov\" rel=\"nofollow\">KingCounty.gov<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">A new site has been established at Highline College in Des Moines.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level2\">\n<div class=\"li\">For Pierce County locations, visit <a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tpchd.org\/covidtest.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tpchd.org\/covidtest.\" rel=\"nofollow\">TPCHD.org\/covidtest<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level1 node\">\n<div class=\"li\">The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department won&#8217;t be holding any <a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/piercecountywa.gov\/6758\/Covid-19-Mobile-Testing?fbclid=IwAR30bMJ2R7XhGq1LcQfznMFW2gyyUUMR9MWEa74WUPV0ysfWXUE1qK0s0rE\" href=\"https:\/\/piercecountywa.gov\/6758\/Covid-19-Mobile-Testing?fbclid=IwAR30bMJ2R7XhGq1LcQfznMFW2gyyUUMR9MWEa74WUPV0ysfWXUE1qK0s0rE\" rel=\"nofollow\">mobile testing events<\/a> on Thursday or Friday this week.
