STATE

  • The state Department of Financial Institutions is asking the public to report suspected fraudulent COVID-19 investment offers by calling the agency toll-free at 877-RING-DFI (that’s 1-877-746-4334), or via email at securities@dfi.wa.gov.
    • Signs of possible scams include:
    • an investment offer with a guaranteed high return with little or no risk
    • a sense of urgency or limited availability of detailed information surrounding the investment
    • offers by unregistered or unlicensed salespeople
  • The Employment Security Department asks if someone is using your personal information to claim unemployment benefits, report it by calling 800-246-9763 or emailing esdfraud@esd.wa.gov.

NEW

  • Beginning May 18, all passengers, visitors, and workers in the public areas of Seatac Airport will be required to wear cloth face coverings.

RE-OPENINGS

  • Three more rural counties have received permission to move into phase 2 of re-opening.
    • Pierce County is not among them.
    • Counties must have a population of less than 75,000 and no new cases of COVID-19 in the last three weeks.
  • Statewide, the following services are open:
    • all essential businesses
    • all in-progress construction
    • State Parks
    • Elective surgeries
    • dog walking services
    • vehicle and vessel sales
    • car washes
    • landscaping
    • drive-in religious services
    • curbside retail sales
  • Tacoma Metro Parks parks are open, but restrooms, playgrounds and other amenities are closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

CANCELLATIONS

  • Tacoma’s official Fourth of July celebration is postponed due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. MetroParks and the City hope to host a community-wide event at a later time.
